Council of Ministers – Manuel Villoria, President of the Independent Authority for the Protection of Whistleblowers.

The Council of Ministers proposed Manuel Villoria this week as president of the Independent Authority for the Protection of Whistleblowers (AAI), which must be approved by an absolute majority in the appointments committee of the Congress of Deputies for it to take effect.

Manuel Villoria is a Professor of Political Science at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid and has an outstanding academic and professional career focused on the study and promotion of ethics and the fight against corruption.

Let us remember that this Authority was created in October 2024 in compliance with European Directive 2019/1937, and its main objective is to protect individuals who report regulatory violations and acts of fraud and corruption, ensuring their safety and confidentiality, and making sure they do not face retaliation.
